Country Barn takes pride in being a homely, family-friendly establishment that provides a comfortable atmosphere, making it the perfect place for family dinners, informal meetings, or just a fresh new place to go to for a few drinks with friends and business associates.

King Gopal’s Uppu Curry & Pork Burger

The dinner menu at Country Barn offers an array of comforting favourites that are both of Asian and Western origin. The selection presented here are all specialty food items by the members of the family that operates the outlet, making each dish a tasty, home-style, hearty serving with a sense of honesty in them.

Aloha Bacon Pizza & Anchovies with Sausage

Some of the deliciously satisfying dishes that are served here, strictly Country Barn style, are King Gopal’s Uppu Curry, Mary’s Mutton, Pork Burger, Chicken Burger, CB Chicken Wings, The Chief’s Pork Steak, Chicken Chop, Bangers and Mash, Piglets in Blankets, Aloha Bacon Pizza, Siew Yoke Pizza, Chicken Masala Pizza, Tuna Cheese Melt, Loaded Tortilla Chips, Hot Chick 69, Vegetarian Pizza, and many more.

                                                      Mary’s Mutton & Chicken Chop

The firm belief of the family that runs Country Barn, is that how food is cooked for the family at home is how it is cooked in Country Barn. This is reflected also in the food’s presentation as the dishes are never overdressed.

Bangers and Mash & Hot Chick 69

Also to be noted is the elegant and cosy character of the outlet. Upon entering the premise, guests are greeted by the long black marble-topped bar that houses the draught beer taps, and the exquisite, glimmering mosaic feature wall. Guests have the pick of four seating choices.

Then there is THE CHIEF’S PORK STEAK that is a 250gm slab of meat and a juicy fat layer, grilled to make this a pork steak for one who relishes a good bite in the meat. Alongside are creamy mashed potatoes, vegetables and a choice of either mushroom or black pepper gravy; homemade.

The awards platform, now in it’s 10th years, attracted more than 1500 song submissions by musicians from more than 40 countries worldwide.
It isnt about the destination, but more about the journey“, shared Siva Zaphod Chandran, VIMA Founder.
VIMA has always been about elevating musicians, and we tend to do this even more effectively by creating a platform that drives publicity to the nominees. This is why over the years, we have placed more emphasis on the public voting segment and allowing each category to have a bigger list of nominees over a longer period of voting time. Over the course of 10 years, we have also moved on from huge single awards night presentation themes to more focused, publicity driven Microawards segments that harnesses the online viral strength of social media postings,  LIVE videos and stories.Unlike most other major awards platforms, VIMA has always played a “behind-the-scenes” approach by providing free coaching, mentoring, marketing & PR strategies, connecting musicians for product endorsements, gigs, campaigns launches, media appearances and so much more. We have never taken credit for what we have done in the lives of thousands of musicians, and we hope a whole new generation of musicians will benefit when VIMA introduces several new radical changes by 2020.” he added.
Official public voting for the various categories begins November 15th based on the following schedule:
a) Chill Song of The Year 15th November

Exclusive Interview with VIMA Winners SOG

Back in 2013, SOG (Sekumpulan Orang Gila) grabbed their first VIMA award when they easily over-powered their way to the Best College Act title.

Now its only taken them 3 years to land the highest honour of VIMA MUSIC AWARDS by being named one of the 4 acts to win the coveted VIMA Thank You For
Existing Award, set aside for the most innovative and creative act among all the nominees.

What sets them apart from other rock acts is their ability to merge and infuse other elements and styles to generate their own freestyle genre that’s infectious, hard and melodic all at the same time.

The band provided some answers to a quick set of interview questions we put forth recently.

1. Congratulations on winning the VIMA THANK YOU FOR EXISTING AWARD. How do you feel about being bestowed the highest honor for VIMA?

Thank you! Actually we didn’t expect to receive the highest honor for VIMA. Of course we are elated to win such a thing. With this kind of recognition, we are absolutely gonna strive harder in creating music and to share it with the world.

2. Who are your key influence to your style of music and genre?
P.Ramlee, M.Nasir and some international acts like Issues, Bring Me The Horizon & Underoath.

3. What are you currently working on and what can your fans expect from you in the near future?
We are currently working on our upcoming brand new album. To be released this November 9th.

4. If you had a chance to perform with any musician in the world, who would it be and why?
Linkin Park. They’re the biggest modern rock band in the world!

5. What are your thoughts about the current music scene and what can be done to make things better?

Our current music scene is full of negative vibes. These kind of dangerous vibes eventually will impair the creativity level of our local talents. We have to unite, stand strong together in order to make things better. Our music scene needs a revolution.

Exclusive Interview with VIMA winner bittymacbeth

VIMA MUSIC AWARDS has just announced that bittymacbeth from Singapore, the soul-pop-funkstress, has notched its highest award by being named one of the 4 acts that will receive the Thank You For Existing Award at the upcoming VIMA MUSIC & MODEL Awards night in Kuala Lumpur.

The Thank You For Existing Award is given out to the most creative & innovative acts in the region annually.

The following is an exclusive interview with her:

1. Congratulations on winning the VIMA THANK YOU FOR EXISTING AWARD. How do you feel about being bestowed the highest honor for VIMA?

Thank you! I’m really surprised, I didn’t know this award existed less than 24 hours ago. But thank you for appreciating my music and my existence.

2. Who are your key influence to your style of music and genre?

Esperanza Spalding, Allen Stone, Khalil Fong, Snarky Puppy, Robert Glasper Experiment, Jon Foreman, Anchor & Braille.

3. What are you currently working on and what can your fans expect from you in the near future?

I’m performing at a couple of national festivals in August (details on – and in a couple of months I’ll be releasing something in conjunction with World Suicide Prevention Day!

Before I launched the album Dru already expressed interest about wanting to produce my next single, we’ve picked out the song already. So some time from now I’ll be releasing a new single, and then maybe an EP to follow.

4. If you had a chance to perform with any musician in the world, who would it be and why?

Besides wanting to work with my influences, I would really like to work with Yuna or Lianna La Havas, they’re talented performers and songwriters and I think our styles could work pretty well together.

5. What are your thoughts about the current music scene and what can be done to make things better?

I’m really encouraged to hear all the new music coming out from my peers – it’s good for what it is, and I don’t praise it just because it’s “local”/”regional” or because they’re my friends.

We in the industry always seem to be having this discussion. It seems all the different agencies involved don’t seem to take risks.

Consumers always fall back on the same international artistes they listen to because they are comfortable with what they know. I also see their side – why should you have to make an effort to seek out local music to listen to just because it’s local? (However, it must also be said that many other countries like Japan, they’re very nationalistic and thus support their local musicians readily.)

This is where media and music enterprises come in – they could provide the exposure to make local music prevalent in society and culture. However, radio, TV, streaming platforms, record labels, etc don’t take a chance on more local music because they’re afraid it won’t be commercially viable. I understand the music business is still a business.

But what is each artiste’s USP anymore if they’re all following the same formula for an “success”? There is a smorgasbord of Singaporean rock, alternative, indie, electronic, soul, R&B, jazz, funk, etc music – there’s richness in what we have, stuff that is quite different from what’s on the American Top 40 charts.

Of course, artistes, musicians, producers, arrangers and composers also have the responsibility to grow and improve at their craft, be humble, support each other – we can’t afford not to – and to make the best of every situation, instead of being bitter and jaded and full of complaints. I understand this may be hard sometimes when the money earned just isn’t enough to battle rising living costs.

I summarise this with what my friend Aya Sekine said: instead of #supportlocal – because that makes us sound like we need hand-outs and pity – let’s #believelocal, for what we need is pride and joy in our music, a part of our national culture and identity.

Kuala Lumpur, 2nd May 2016

The Voice International Music Awards 2016 (VIMA MUSIC AWARDS 2016) have released the list of final nominees for the regional music awards platform.

Leading the way were Sekumpulan Orang Gila (SOG) with an incredible 11 nominations, followed by Roshan Jamrock who featured on 10 nominations, Rabbit Mac who featured on 9 nominations, GTXperiment with 8 nominations, bittymacbeth from Singapore and Kirstie Maximus, both raking up 7 nominations each.

It’s a massive list of nominees from Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. For the first time, we have expanded the nomination list to go beyond the norm, especially in the Best Rock Song and Best Genre-Bender categories. We received more than 1000 submissions and in the rock song category in itself we had more than 400 songs. So, we decided there were just too many songs that deserved its due recognition and decided to nominate them.

Once again, we have a whole set of exciting acts who continue to innovate music in ways we never thought possible, and VIMA has been the perfect platform for the most weirdest and most creative spectrum of styles over the years.

Next week, we will begin the voting process where almost every day we will put up one or two categories for voting over a period of 3 days and the public and fans will be invited to vote on the official VIMA MUSIC AWARDS Facebook page. 40% of the overall scores will come from public votes and 50% will be decided by our panel of global judges that include award winning producers, major label heads, celebrities, the media and even previous Grammy winners. That final 10% will be determined by the VIMA team, to evaluate how well each musicians promotes themselves actively during the voting phase. We have always encouraged musicians to be their own marketeers of their brand and this should spur them on to do more. ” shared Siva Zaphod Chandran, founder of VIMA MUSIC AWARDS and VIMA MODEL AWARDS.

Fans and the public are invited to join the official VIMA MUSIC AWARDS page for all the latest announcements, news, interviews, and to cast their votes.

The award has become a benchmark for many awards platform across the globe and often acts as a launch pad for music acts tipped to be the next big thing.
